COVID-19 is challenging us to expand our creativity! Rainbow Dance Co., our signature modern dance performance program, is using the outdoors to inspire new choreography for a special eight-week Fall project at the NC Museum of Art. Four small repertories, along with a group of this year’s high school seniors, are pushing their artistry to new heights by designing a work around particular sculptures and nature in the Museum’s Park.
Company Director Kathryn Auman shares: “We would have never thought of this project if it wasn’t for COVID-19. This is an opportunity to do something creative, meaningful and healing during this time. I am grateful for all of our creative choreographers who helped dream up this exciting dance project. As a company, we are so connected by moving and creating together. It has been such a blessing to see each other every week to collaborate and dance together, something we have been missing for months. We all leave with smiles on our faces, even though you can’t see them through our masks!”
The site-specific dances will be performed for family and friends in late October. Stay tuned for more info on how you can access the performances!
