Arts Together is proud to sponsor The Rainbow Dance Company, a multi-age modern dance company.

Now in its 38th year, Rainbow Dance Company was the brainchild of Arts Together founder Lemma Mackie and is the only dance company of its kind in NC. This multi-age company celebrates the many creative voices found in children, teens and adults. Rainbow Dance Company currently comprises members from age 9 to 60+ years old. Dancers are invited to join after showing a passion and commitment for creating, learning and performing. Company members explore complex social issues through dance and are seen as collaborative artists who contribute throughout the choreographic process. We collaborate uniquely: a 10-year-old has the confidence to offer artistic feedback to a 50-year-old and they respect each other as peers.

In addition to taking two to three technique classes per week, dancers participate in the creation of one or more repertory pieces to be performed at the company's annual concert. Over the years, the company has nurtured the individual talents of many dancers who have moved on to pursue dance professionally, including performing with internationally known choreographers and ensembles.

For more information about the Rainbow Dance Company, contact Company Director Kathryn Auman.

Be the Change: Rainbow Dance Company's 37th Annual Spring Concert (March 2017)

Once again, the Rainbow Dance Company has delighted, provoked, challenged and amazed us! Each piece in Be The Change: 37th Annual Rainbow Dance COmpany Spring Concert was dynamic, thought-provoking and distinctive. Congratulations to Kathryn Auman, our wonderful Dance Director, and her team of terrific choreographers Glenda Mackie, Megan Mazarick, Michelle Pearson, and Jessi Tilden in her great debut as a RDC choreographer. Senior Choreographers Brinn NcNutt and Claire Willmschen were also quite impressive. Congratulations as well to all of the dancers – including some of our faculty and Board members - for creating such inspiring work. Thank you choreographers, dancers, volunteers and enthusiastic audience members for a memorable weekend!

Attendance broke a record this year – we had the highest weekend house count in a decade! Thank you to ArtsNow for the excellent article about Rainbow Dance Company and for helping us spread the word. We also enjoyed the first-ever Opening Night Sponsor Reception and Raffle with tasty treats generously provided by our friends at 18 Seaboard!
