Lisa Grable

Hawaiian hula practitioner. I have been dancing since I was 6 years old. With family in Hawai'i, I discovered the beauty of hula and began pursuing practice over 20 years ago. I study under Kanoe Miller of Oahu, I perform as a soloist locally and in Hawai'i. It is said that hula is "praying with your feet."

And in the words of Hawai'i's immortal King David Kalakaua, hula is the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people. It is a beautiful mode of storytelling about love (aloha), the earth, the ocean, and the spirit of all living things. I want to share my understanding of the energy (mana) of hula, how it grounds you, gives a new perspective of your body in space, and using movement to find joy.
