Check out our dance and movement classes for teens through adults! We have a wide variety of workshops and classes: modern dance, ballet, hip hop, yoga and more. Workshops provide a way to try a new class without the commitment of signing up for an entire semester. If you know what you like - feel free to sign up for the semester!

ADVANCED MODERN TECHNIQUE - Mondays (AGES 15+)
Monday, 5:30-7pm
Advanced Modern Technique is a professional level course for the serious dancer. Students stretch themselves as they learn complex dance combinations and exercises. Classes are taught in a collaborative environment with a focus on composition and improvisation to heighten students’ creativity. The perfect class for the future, current or former dance major or professional dancer. At least 5 years prior training required.
Instructor: Glenda Mackie

  • Class meets for a total of 16 sessions from January 9 - May 8.
  • No classes on January 2 & 16, April 10.
  • Spring Tuition: $350 (payable upfront; or pay a deposit of $70 w/ four additional monthly payments of $70 from Feb-May)
     

INTERMEDIATE TEEN MODERN TECHNIQUE - Mondays (AGES 13-19) 
Monday, 5:30-6:30pm
Students with a thorough grounding in modern dance work to solidify their execution of technique and understanding of dance theory. Classes may include improvisation and composition in order to produce well-rounded dancers who have both strong technique and individual style by the end of the course. Students must have 3 years prior training or permission of the instructor to enroll.

BEGINNING ADULT HIP HOP JAZZ WORKSHOP (AGES 15+)
Monday, 6:30-7:30pm
In this Beginning Hip Hop class, students will relieve stress and condition the body while aerobically dancing in a safe and supportive environment! A consistent weekly warmup will isolate and stregthen different muscle groups while working out to upbeat music. Students will learn stylized, rhythmic and coordinated hip hop moves and then put them all together in a combination to a current hip hop hit! No experience required.

TEEN YOGA WORKSHOP (AGES 12-19)
Tuesday, 3:30-4:30pm
Adolescence is a turbulent time with many physical and emotional changes. Vinyasa yoga can address these changes in a positive way, increasing hormonal balance, strength and flexibility. In addition to poses, students will learn breathing techniques that help to reduce stress and focus the mind. A great way to take charge of your well being! Instructor: Glenda Mackie

AGING GRACEFULLY THRU MINDFUL MOVEMENT WORKSHOP (AGES 30+)
Tuesday, 6:30-7:30pm
A unique opportunity for beginning adults to experience physicality in a thoughtful yet fun-filled environment. This class will focus on full body maintenance, including exercises to increase flexibility, muscle tone, short-term memory, and an awareness of how the body can move in the safest and most efficient manner. We will celebrate the ability to express ourselves through movement in a supportive dance community! No experience required. Instructor: Glenda Mackie

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED MODERN TECHNIQUE  (AGES 15+)
Tuesday, 7-8:30pm
This class was designed for students with a solid command of modern dance vocabulary. Technique is refined as students master increasingly difficult dance combinations and exercises. Using a collaborative structure, greater emphasis is placed on composition and improvisation to increase students' creative abilities. At least 5 years prior training required. Instructor: Jennifer Huggins

Early Bird Yoga WORKSHOPS (AGES 16+)
Wednesday, 7:30-8:30am
Start your day with energy and balance! This Vinyasa yoga class will improve your physical and mental well-being. We will focus on increased body awareness while cultivating flexibility, strength and balance. Breath work and meditation make this an excellent class for those wishing to exercise body, mind and spirit. Suitable for all levels. Instructor: Glenda Mackie

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet (AGES 14+)
Wednesday, 5:30-7pm
Students will continue their training in vocabulary, positions, and traditional steps in ballet as well as benefit from the additional instruction of Pilates, once every 5 weeks, to increase overall strength, flexibility and balance in a tension free body. This course is great for the modern dance student who wants to better understand the supportive relationship between modern and ballet technique. Ballet shoes required. At least 4 years prior experience required. Instructor: Rachel Mehaffey

Intermediate Modern Technique (AGES 14+)
Wednesday, 5:30-7pm
This class is designed for students with a solid command of modern dance technique vocabulary. With a thorough understanding of modern technique, dancers will work on alignment, execution of movement and have a clearer understanding of dance theory. Improvisation and composition will be used to experiment with elements learned in previous classes. At least 3 years prior modern dance experience required. Instructor: Kathryn Auman

  • Class meets for a total of 17 sessions from January 4 - May 10.
  • No classes on March 1, April 12.

Beginning Adult Pilates WORKSHOP (AGES 16+)
Wednesday, 7-8pm
In this introductory mat class, students will be led through the basics of Pilates Fundamentals. Through body alignment, exercises and breathing technique students will receive a great low-impact, whole body conditioning workout. This class will improve your core strength, flexibility, posture and leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated! No experience required. Instructor: Betsy Ward-Hutchinson

Intermediate Ballet (AGES 12+)
Thursday, 4-5pm

Students will continue their training in vocabulary, positions, and traditional steps. Students will be challenged in both sequencing and difficulty of movement positions. Physical alignment, balance, strength, flexibility and control within a tension free body will be emphasized. Ballet shoes required. Instructor: Michelle Pearson

Morning Flow Yoga (AGES 16+)
Friday, 9:30-10:30am
Perfect for parents dropping off their preschooler, but open to all! This one–hour class is suited for all levels of yoga experience including beginners. We will practice varying series of Gentle Vinyasa Flow poses with breath work that gently awakens your senses, body, mind and spirit. Gain flexibility, strength and alignment. Each class ends with restorative relaxation that will leave you feeling peaceful and refreshed. No experience required. Instructor: Liz Holt
