BEGINNING MODERN TECHNIQUE  (AGES 8-10)
Monday, 4:30-5:30pm

Continuing with the elements taught in Creative Modern, students work to build strength, flexibility and skill as they learn how to move their bodies in the safest, most efficient manner. To cultivate their understanding of the creative, expressive nature of dance alongside their technical skills, students will use improvisation to develop their own personal styles. Students must have 1 year prior dance training or permission of the instructor to enroll. Tuition includes costume for end-of-year Dance Fest performance.   Instructor: Karen Warr

  • No classes on January 2 & 16, April 10.

INTERMEDIATE TEEN MODERN TECHNIQUE (AGES 13-19)
Monday, 5:30-6:30pm

Students with a thorough grounding in modern dance work to solidify their execution of technique and understanding of dance theory. Classes may include improvisation and composition in order to produce well-rounded dancers who have both strong technique and individual style by the end of the course. Students must have 3 years prior training or permission of the instructor to enroll.   Instructor: Jessi Tilden

TEEN YOGA WORKSHOP (AGES 12-19)
Tuesday, 3:30-4:30pm
Adolescence is a turbulent time with many physical and emotional changes. Vinyasa yoga can address these changes in a positive way, increasing hormonal balance, strength and flexibility. In addition to poses, students will learn breathing techniques that help to reduce stress and focus the mind. A great way to take charge of your well being!  Instructor: Glenda Mackie

  • SPRING WORKSHOP DATES: FEBRUARY 7 - MARCH 28 (There will be no class on March 14)
  • Spring Tuition: $80 for this seven-week workshop (payable upfront or in two installments of $40)

 

HIP HOP TWEENS (AGES 10-14)
Tuesday, 5:30-6:30pm
Leave the stress of school behind and bring your friends to this funky dance class! Students will learn traditional jazz dance technique as well as revel in the stylized movements and rhythms of hip hop jazz.  In this beginning/intermediate level class, students will build strength, coordination and flexibility. Tuition includes costume for end-of-year Dance Fest performance.   Instructor: Kayla Grinnell

BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE BALLET (AGES 10-14) 
Wednesday, 4:30-5:30pm
Ballet students review the basic positions, vocabulary, and will learn traditional sequence of exercises, moving from the barre, to the center, then across the floor.  Physical alignment, balance, strength, flexibility, and control within a tension-free body will be emphasized.  Ballet Shoes Required. Tuition includes costume for end-of-year Dance Fest performance. Instructor: Rachel Mehaffey.

ART-A-RAMA  (AGES 9-12)
Wednesday, 4:30-5:30pm
From acrylic painting, paper mache and drawing to printmaking, weaving, clay sculpture and more, students learn to express themselves using a multitude of artistic techniques! With their imaginations leading the way, students create all kinds of projects, their artistic confidence growing with their skills.  Instructor: Renee Boyette

INTERMEDIATE MODERN TECHNIQUE  (AGES 14+)
Wednesday, 5:30-7pm
This class is designed for students with a solid command of modern dance technique vocabulary. With a thorough understanding of modern technique, dancers will work on alignment, execution of movement and have a clearer understanding of dance theory. Improvisation and composition will be used to experiment with elements learned in previous classes. At least 3 years prior modern dance experience required.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED BALLET (AGES 14+)
Wednesday, 5:30-7pm
Students will continue their training in vocabulary, positions, and traditional steps in ballet as well as benefit from the additional instruction of Pilates, once every 5 weeks, to increase overall strength, flexibility and balance in a tension free body. This course is great for the modern dance student who wants to better understand the supportive relationship between modern and ballet technique. Ballet shoes required. At least 4 years prior experience required.  Instructor: Rachel Mehaffey

  • Class meets for a total of 17 sessions from January 4 - May 10.
  • No classes on March 8, April 12.

INTERMEDIATE BALLET (AGES 12+) 
Thursday, 4-5pm
Students will continue their training in vocabulary, positions, and traditional steps. Students will be challenged in both sequencing and difficulty of movement positions. Physical alignment, balance, strength, flexibility and control within a tension free body will be emphasized. Ballet shoes required.   Instructor: Michelle Pearson

  • Class meets for a total of 17 sessions from January 5 - May 11.
  • No classes on March 2, April 13.

BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE MODERN TECHNIQUE (AGES 11-13)
Thursday, 5:30-6:30pm
In Modern Technique, students develop their execution of technique through exercises and combinations across the floor, while working on their grasp of dance theory. Students will focus on alignment and balance whil gaining fluency in sequencing. Classes will include improvisation and composition in order to produce versatile dancers who have both solid technique and individual style by the end of the course. Students age 11 must have 2 years prior dance training or permission of the instructor to enroll. Tuition includes costume for end-of-year Dance Fest performance.   Instructor: Kathryn Auman
