NEW!-2009-2010 Wednesday Early Release Workshops

Because students are getting out of school an hour early on Wednesdays this year, Arts Together has begun a new set of programs for elementary and middle school students that start earlier in the day.

With art, drama and music offered, there is something for everyone when parents bring their children to Arts Together. Each artistic discipline is offered in sets of 4 eight-week workshops scheduled to run September – May. Students can specialize in one discipline for the entire year or change art forms every workshop. The choice is theirs. If busy family schedules mean that an entire year of study is not possible, these workshops can be taken individually too.

Note that if registering for workshops only and no other classes, no annual family registration fee is required.

WORLD ARTS WORKSHOPS (ages 8-10)
Travel the world and North Carolina through the arts. In these workshops students will learn the skills and techniques they need as young artists, while opening their imaginations to the many ways people make art around the globe. Each workshop will use a different part of the planet for inspiration, starting with Scandinavia, moving on to Latin America, followed by Asia and finally returning to explore the rich culture of North Carolina.

The early release workshops for ages 7-9 are all scheduled to run 3:30-4:30pm. If one hour is not enough for your young artist, consider registering for our Get a Move On! class, which runs 4:30-5:30pm on Wednesdays, for a full two hours of creativity for your child.

CREATE+CONNECT=COMMUNITY (ages 11-13)
When you put middle school students and the arts together, they can change the world. In this new series of workshops middle schoolers have the opportunity to put their artistic talents to work on community engagement projects for Raleigh senior citizens, younger children, animals and the environment.

Each eight-week workshop will focus on helping a different community group through the arts. From learning new artistic techniques and skills in class, students will move on to creating artwork, performances and other projects, which they will collectively present to the groups they are serving at the end of each workshop. Weekly classes are 90 minutes long to provide ample time for both classroom instruction and development of community engagement projects.
