creative preschoolers’ work in paint, clay, collage, fabric and

Multi-Arts Sampler
(ages 3-5)
Nurture your creative child with a variety of arts experiences. This multi-arts
course is the trademark of Arts Together! Students will have the opportunity
to discover their artistic selves through art, dance, drama and other educational
activities. We will dive into at least two different art forms each week,
so come have a multitude of educational fun during multi-arts afternoons!

Art Smart (ages 5-7)
This class introduces budding artists to the fundamentals of visual art,
while inspiring them to find their own personal style. Terms such as shape,
concept, color and line will come to life as students work on projects
in paint, clay, pencil, marker, fabric, pastels and printmaking. Come
play, create and learn to see the world in so many new ways! Limit 12

Act Up! Workshops
(ages 5-7)
These new workshops combine art and drama in a multi-disciplinary approach
that introduces children to the joy of theatre. Each eight-week workshop
focuses on a different aspect of visual art in conjunction with a standard
dramatic curriculum of improvisation, movement, storytelling and theatre
games. Class length is 90 minutes to accommodate this extra material. Limit
12 students for these eight-week workshops.

Session III:
A Planet Full of Puppets Picture books will lead us on a dramatic journey
to investigate the amazing creatures that inhabit our wondrous planet. Then
we’ll explore our world for natural and recycled materials to build our
own puppets and decorate a puppet stage “habitat” for our creations. We
will present our puppet play to parents and friends on the final day of
class.
Session III:
Saturdays, Jan. 30 – March 20, 10-11:30am
Session IV:
The Museum Comes to Life There’s a story behind every piece of art and we’ll
use our imaginations to bring a famous work to life! We’ll examine the people,
places and emotions portrayed in paintings and sculptures through dramatic
exploration and then create a play that begins or ends with our favorite
work of art. Families are welcome to see what we’ve made on the last day
of class.

Mix It Up (ages 6-8)
Dive into a different medium every few weeks to build skills in watercolor,
acrylic, clay work, printmaking, pastels, fabric art and sculpture.

Kids Art
Afternoons Workshops (ages 8-10)
Travel the world and North Carolina through the arts. In these workshops
students will learn the skills and techniques they need as young artists,
while opening their imaginations to the many ways people make are around
the globe. Each workshop will use a different part of the planet for inspiration,
starting with Scandinavia, moving on to Latin America, followed by Asia
and finally returning to explore the rich culture of North Carolina.
From painting, drawing and work in clay, to sculpture, paper-maché
and more, students learn to express themselves using a multitude of artistic
techniques. By alternating between familiar art forms and those used in
other parts of the world, students create all kinds of projects, their
imaginations and appreciation of different cultures growing with their
skills. Limit 12 students.

CREATE+CONECT=Art (ages 11-13)
When you put middle school students and the arts together, they can change
the world. In this new series of workshops middle schoolers have the opportunity
to put their artistic talents to work on community engagement projects
for Raleigh senior citizens, younger children, animals and the environment.
These mixed media workshops will give students a chance to experiment
with a wide range of materials and learn a variety of techniques over
the course of the school year. Mediums will include work in clay, painting,
drawing, sculpture and more.
Each eight-week workshop will focus on helping a different
community group through the arts. From learning new artistic techniques
and skills in class, students will move on to creating artwork to collectively
present to the groups they are serving at the end of each workshop. Weekly
classes are 90 minutes long to provide ample time for both classroom instruction
and development of community engagement projects. Limit 12 students.

Session I: Senior Citizens
Project
Students will work together as a group to complete a clay tile art work
that will be presented to a senior group to be hung in their residence.
All projects will involve clay.

Session II: Young Childrens’
Project
Students will learn different art techniques while working in a variety
of mediums. The students will review the techniques and materials and
decide as a group on a project that they can teach to preschool age children.
Dates: Wednesdays, Nov. 4 – Jan.
13 (no class 11/25, 12/23, 12/30), 2-3:30pm
Session III: Project for Animals
Students will use the study of animals in art as a springboard for developing
their own personal creativity and artistic vision. The final project for
this workshop will involve create an animal-themed art piece to be presented
to an animal rescue group or agency to recognize the work they do for
the community.
Dates: Wednesdays, Jan. 20 – March
10, 2-3:30pm
Session IV: Environmental Project
Students will start this workshop by looking at the many ways that the
environment can be incorporated into art. Using this knowledge, students
will move on to create a group project to educate the community about
caring for the environment that will be presented to an environmental
service agency for display.
