2010 SUMMER DANCE, PILATES & YOGA

MODERN AND HIP HOP JAZZ INTENSIVE WORKSHOP (ages 11-14)
This week long intensive will focus on providing serious dancers with strong training in modern technique, improvisation, choreography, and Hip Hop Jazz. Students will be challenged in a fun atmosphere in which technical ability will be equally emphasized.
Instructor: Kathryn Auman
Dates: August 2-6
Time: 4-6pm
Cost: $115

THE TEEN CLASS CARD (age 10-14)
For the teen who wants to dance throughout the summer, Arts Together offers the Teen Class Card! This summer session will take place over four weeks on Wednesday evenings, while providing two different styles of dance class. Come join us for all of the fun this summer! All classes are suitable for both the beginning and experienced dancer!
Class Card Fee: $50 for 4 classes
Summer Drop-In Fee: $15/class


Modern Technique (ages 10-14)
In this challenging technique class, students work to refine their dance skills and increase their physical range through awareness of how the body moves in the safest, most efficient manner.
Instructor: Eleanor Smith
Dates: Wednesdays, June 16 & June 23
Time: 6-7pm

Teen Hip Hop Jazz (ages 10-14)
Using funky hip music, this class exposes students to the stylized movements of jazz and hip hop. A great way to energize the body and spirit!
Instructor: Kathryn Auman
Dates: Wednesdays, June 30 & July 7
Time: 6-7pm


THE SUMMER EVENING CLASS CARD (age 14– adults)
Adults need summertime fun just as much as children, but vacation trips can make it difficult to sign up for classes that meet week after week all summer long. Enter the Summer Evening Class Card, which gives you the flexibility to select the classes that best fit your summer plans. The choice is yours
– immerse yourself in yoga, hip hop, modern or Pilates or be free and easy and try a different class from week to week!
Class Card Fee: $100 for any 8 classes of your choice
Summer Drop-In Fee: $15/class

Beginning/Intermediate Modern Technique (age 14– adults)
A unique opportunity for beginning dance students to focus on full body maintenance increasing flexibility, muscle tone, short-term memory, and imagination in a supportive and fun environment.
Instructors: Jennifer Huggins, Glenda Mackie, Joan Nicholas-Walker
Dates: Tuesdays, June 15 - August 3 (8 weeks)
Time: 6-7pm

Intermediate/Advanced Modern Technique (age 14 – adults)
In this challenging technique class, students work to refine their dance skills and increase their physical range through awareness of how the body moves in the safest, most efficient manner. At least two years dance training required or permission of the instructor to take this class.
Instructors: Jennifer Huggins, Glenda Mackie, Joan Nicholas-Walker
Dates: Mondays, June 14 - August 2 (8 weeks)
Time: 6-7:30pm

Vinyasa Yoga (age 14 – adults)
Vinyasa, or “flow yoga”, is an evolving style of Hatha Yoga, where the breath leads the body through movement.  The practice encourages exploration and creativity while generating heat and focus.  Students practice in a safe and supported environment, learning to shift from the outside works into movement meditation, building strength and flexibility while healing and revitalizing the mind, body and spirit.
Instructors: Elka Harabin, Sandy Scherer
Dates: Wednesdays, June 16 - August 4 (8 weeks)
Time: 6-7pm

Dates: Thursdays, June 17 - August 5 (8 weeks)
Time: 6-7pm

Pilates (age 14 - adults)
Pilates exercise techniques have been popular with dancers for years because they strengthen core abdominal and back muscles, while increasing flexibility, balance and body alignment. Students of all ages and abilities enjoy Pilates classes because they provide safe, low-impact workouts that refresh and invigorate.
Instructors: Betsy Ward-Hutchinson
Dates: Thursdays, June 17 - August 5 (8 weeks)
Time: 7-8pm
