2008 MULTI-ARTS MORNINGS (ages
3-5)
Preschoolers dive into the arts and summertime fun at Arts Together during
Multi-Arts Mornings. Taught by professional arts educators, each week
preschoolers explore art, dance, drama and music, as well as delving into
educational enrichment activities in our learning lab. Each week has a
different theme, which instructors use as the focus for their projects
and activities. Children registered for multiple weeks like the variety
of having something new to look forward to with each one. Grouped by age
in an informal and nurturing setting, children delight in making new friends
and trying new activities. The student to teacher ratio for Multi-Arts
Mornings is 5:1.
Enrollment Requirements: Students must
be age 3 by their camp start date and potty trained.

& July 7– August 15 (no session week of July 4)

Snacks
Multi-Arts students take a break each morning
for a light snack, which they should bring from home.
Lunch Bunch:
For children who want their Arts Together day
to last a little longer, we offer a supervised lunch break and extra activities
from 12:15-1:15pmNoon to 1pm. Students should bring a packed lunch.

Down on the Farm
June 16-20
Quack-quack, moo, neigh, cluck-cluck say our friends on the farm. Let’s learn to talk to the animals and see how they like to live. Farms grow so many good things to eat—from sweet strawberries in the berry patch to apples from the trees. We can have a feast!
Be Your Own Super Hero-SORRY, FULL!
June 23-27
What makes you super? What makes someone a hero? What will it take for you to become your own superhero?
Sand, Surf and Sea-SORRY, FULL!
July 7-11
It’s time for a beach vacation! Oh, the games we’ll play in the water and the sand. Make sure to take a look at life under the water and the critters that live up on land.

Once Upon a Time-SORRY, FULL!

What’s the buzz? Whether they creep, crawl or fly, insects are some of the most unusual neighbors we have on the planet! Let’s make friends with these crazy creatures!
Reach for the Stars-SORRY, FULL!
August 4-8
What’s up in the sky? We’ll swoop up to the stars in a space ship to see what we can see. Let’s tour the Milky Way and give the galaxy a spin!
Jammin’ in the Jungle
August 11-15
Let’s go on Safari! There are so many animals, birds and reptiles to see. Can you climb a tree like a monkey or talk the way that parrots talk?

2008 SUMMER SAMPLERS (rising
1st – 3rd graders)
From drama to art to dance to music the Arts Together
carriage house runs riot with summertime creativity for first through
third graders. Play percussion; put on a show; learn to cartoon; dance
‘til the cows come home. These arts enrichment programs allow children
to dig deep into favorite artistic disciplines and/or tackle new ones
while having lots of fun. Students sign up for a half day or a whole one,
one week, two weeks or the full two months. Your child creates a summer
full of experiences that are the perfect fit for them!
Dates: June 16-27
& July 7– August 15 (no session week of July 4)

Afternoon Sessions: 1-4pm

Snacks & Lunch
Students should bring daily snacks for each session
in which they are enrolled. Students attending Summer Sampler programs
for a full day should pack a lunch in addition to bringing two snacks
for our morning and afternoon breaks.

For an additional fee, students enrolled in morning
sessions may be dropped off as early as 8:00am and students enrolled in
afternoon sessions may be picked up as late as 5pm.

WEEK: JUNE 16-20
MORNINGS:
SPLASH-SORRY, FULL!
Dive into the great world of watercolor
painting as you learn to paint animals, nature scenes and still life. Find
out what happens to watercolors when they meet up with salt, wax resist,
alcohol and other "stuff"! Also take home a digital photo of your art to
create cards or other transfers.

Attention Architects I
Want to have a “constructive” experience this summer? Learn about the design and construction of buildings, towers, bridges and boats. Then use that knowledge to build and test your own designs. Math, literature, science and art will serve to guide us in our projects. Ultimately, we will endeavor to create our very own recycled city and original printed cityscapes!

Stage
Let’s put on a show! In Mother Goose to the Rescue, Mother Goose
becomes Dear Abby, dispensing advice to all her friends. Should Jack and
Jill go up that hill? Should a cow wear a space suit when jumping over
the moon? Use your imagination to create answers to these crazy queries
as you learn all about acting and theater!

WEEK: JUNE 23-27
MORNINGS:
It’s All About Energy!
Intake = Output. You are what you eat!! Learn about and prepare yummy foods that give you loads of long lasting energy. Students will need that energy as they then explore creative movements to strengthen their developing muscles. This will indeed be food and fun to grow on!!!

Celebrate the Earth during this week inspired by the diversity and beauty of our home – the great blue planet. We will explore many ecosystems through music, movement, crafts, poetry, stories and science projects.

Summer Symphony
The bees are a buzzing, while the cicadas sing. Ladybugs dance to the hum of butterfly wings. And down deep in the earth, the worms say shh, shh, shh as they tunnel below. Summer is so full of sound, let’s make a buggy musical masterpiece! We’ll pick the most talented members of the insect world, artfully designing our own costumes and scenery as we learn about their music then turn it all into a show!

WEEK: JULY 7-11
MORNINGS:
What’s Your Story? I
We all have stories tumbling around our imaginations, but how do
they get from our heads into real books? Here’s your chance to learn how
by publishing one of your own. We’ll read some of our favorite books and
look at how the illustrations bring the stories in them to life. Then
we’ll write our own tales of adventure, fantasy and fun; create illustrations
for them; and finally bind each one into a book for each student to take
home!

Ridin’ the Tides
From coral reefs to marshes, let’s plunge into the movement and beauty of the ocean and its neighboring ecosystems. Can you move to the beat of the ocean’s waves? Can you leap like a dolphin or glide like a shark? Using music, movement, poetry, stories and science projects, we’ll use our imaginations to swim down and explore the fascinating, deep, blue sea.

There are so many kinds of gardens you can create and people garden in different ways all over the world. Make terrariums, rock gardens, moss gardens and Zen gardens, while learning about plant varieties, design styles, growing conditions and more. This camp will make the horticultural artist in you bloom!

Dabbles in Dance-SORRY, FULL!
Jazz, ballet and modern – there are so many ways to dance! Here’s your chance to try them all. Delve into a different dance form each day, learning technique then branching out into creative exploration. Family and friends are invited to an informal sharing on the final day.

Spend a week using props, costumes, pictures, stories and your
imagination to become people the world has never seen before! In the process

MORNINGS:
Trash into Treasure-SORRY, FULL!
Let’s give recycling a new twist! Michelangelo could see an entire sculpture in a piece of stone. When you look at springs, washers, empty containers, old toys, plastic lids and more, what new masterpieces dance before your eyes? Using everyday items, we’ll create animals, people, buildings, mobiles – you name it!

Ballet Highlights
Imagine yourself in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty! Become part of these dance masterpieces during this magical week of ballet and movement. Learn basic ballet vocabulary, ballet barre and classic dance phrases from famous ballets. The week culminates in an informal sharing for family and friends.

All Kinds of Art-SORRY, FULL!
If you like art – all kinds of art – this is the camp for you. We’ll paint with watercolors then move on to oil pastels. We’ll try our hand at collage then move on to stamping and weaving paper. We’ll explore 3-dimensional art forms by working in clay and creating wire sculptures. Why pick just one art form, when there are so many wonderful ones to try?

WEEK: JULY 28 – AUGUST 1
MORNINGS:
Sing Out!
Join the Arts Together Chorus for a week of singing old and new favorites in a joyous, playful, no-pressure environment. Accompany yourself and others on instruments then try out some props, while learning about vocal/breathing techniques, as well as basic note reading. The week ends in a fun choral sharing with parents and friends.

Get a Move On!
Jump! Roll! Kick! Spin into action this summer! In Get a Move On high
energy movers and shakers get their groove on and funk it up! Explore
how you relate to rhythm and space by trying out all kinds of movement.
From handstands to shoulder rolls, learn about building strength and flexibility
in funky and creative ways!

Clay Creations-SORRY, FULL!
Try your hand at a variety of hand building techniques for working with clay such as coil, slab and pinch. Animal sculptures, pots, bird feeders, windchimes and more will become your “clay creations” as you give your fingers and your imagination a work out!

MORNINGS:
Galaxy Music-SORRY, FULL!
Take a rocket into space to travel the Milky Way. Discover the secret
worlds of stars, planets, comets and many other space marvels. Transport
yourself and your imagination through the universe to create your own
galaxy filled with your original music, movement, scenery, costumes and
artwork.

Mess Makers
Every child’s dream! Every parent’s nightmare! Make every messy art project your parents have never allowed in the house. Paint, smear, mash, rip, tear, mix, drip, drop, blob and burst! Get up to your elbows in oozy, gloopy, gluey, glittery, artistic stuff!

Dance to the Music
From syncopated Latin music to the slow, smooth sounds of jazz, we’ll
make music our inspiration as we dance, dance, dance. Does classical music,
make you want to move formally or spin up on your toes? When you hear
African rhythms, do you suddenly want to jump and hop and leap? Choreographers
choose their music to guide them as they set their dancers’ steps. This
summer music will lead us as we learn all about the world of dance.

WEEK: AUGUST 11-15
MORNINGS:
Buzzin’ Like Bees
This mixed-media class will be part art, part science and all fun! How do bees help people and what are all the things that they can do? As we learn about these amazing creatures, we’ll make garden drawings, beeswax candles and even a bee painting or too!

Stomp!
When you hear the beat, how do you move your feet? Do you jump up high
or crouch down low? Do you glide across the floor or just tap your toe?
Let’s travel the world in search of all kinds of rhythms and cultures.
In the process, we’ll learn how people who live in Africa, Europe and
Latin America move their feet to a variety of beats.

Planet
Discover the universal language of music as we learn about cultures
from around the globe through drumming. During this fun and exciting week,
explore the rhythms of Latin America, Africa and Europe using hand drums
and other instruments. On the final day, invite family and friends to
