BEGINNING
DANCE WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS (age 18+)
It’s never too late to start dancing! Whether you have always wanted
to take a dance class or it’s been years since you’ve been
in the studio, these workshops are a fun and creative way to get moving
in a safe, no-pressure environment. Instructors will focus on proper alignment,
coordination, sequencing and dance vocabulary in these easy-paced classes.

In Creative Modern Dance, students begin to learn body control and proper
alignment through modern dance technique. Exercises are given at the barre,

Modern Technique (ages 10-13)
Continuing with the elements taught in Creative Modern Dance, students
work to build strength, flexibility and skill as they learn how to move
their bodies in the safest, most efficient manner. To cultivate their
understanding of the creative, expressive nature of dance alongside their
technical skills, students will use improvisation to develop their own
personal styles. (Students age 10 must have 2 years prior dance training

Compositional Improvisation
Workshops (age 18+)
These monthly workshops were developed to give dancers regular opportunities
to hone their creative skills in making dance. In a supportive atmosphere,
students, as soloists and eventually as an ensemble, will focus on the intentional
and compositional shaping of spontaneous material, giving attention to the
aesthetic and poetic consequences of their choices. The artistic value and
integrity of one's "voice" is sharpened in conversation with the
whole and a dialogue emerges as individual aesthetics meet, interact and
expand. Limit 14 students.

Hip Hop for Teens & ‘Tweens
